WaveScan

WaveScan

LASIK is the most common refractive surgical procedure in the world. It is FDA approved to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism and presbyopia (monovision). To achieve maximum results, Dr. Bryan applies wavefront technology to further customize the procedure.

The benefits of LASIK may include:
  • Improved image of self
  • Ability to enjoy a more active lifestyle than glasses allow
  • Improved peripheral vision compared to glasses
  • Enhanced comfort and safety
  • Convenience
  • Financial savings in long run

About The Procedure

On the day of the procedure, while relaxing in a reclining chair, anesthetic drops are placed into your eyes and a mild sedative is given to help you relax. A flap is then created using a highly precise instrument known as a microkeratome. The flap is folded back and the cool beam from the laser then removes microscopic amounts of tissue -less than the thickness of a human hair in most cases-to create a new curvature. The procedure typically takes about 30 minutes from start to finish and the majority of individuals feel no discomfort.

Following The Procedure

Following treatment, it is likely to experience a slightly stinging or gritty sensation. Your vision will probably be a little blurry. These symptoms are temporary and usually disappear in a few hours. Functional vision generally occurs during the first 24 hours. Most patients notice an immediate improvement the next day, with the vast majority resuming normal daily activities such as driving.

Safety…Our Top Concern

Moving or blinking during your LASIK procedure is a common concern. In order to keep the eye from blinking, we use an instrument to hold your eyelids in place. Our laser has safety mechanisms so even if you move your eyes, the laser will automatically stop.

Dr. Bryan uses the VISX® Star S4 Excimer Laser System, the most advanced technology available. VISX® invented the technology for laser vision correction 20 years ago and continues to be the most trusted name among eye surgeons.

The latest VISX® model, the Star S4, has made a number of new breakthroughs that have improved the excellent results that Dr. Bryan was already achieving.

Variable Spot Scanning (VSS™) is an exclusive VISX® laser technology that allows for a larger treatment area. This has minimized earlier night vision issues where pupil size is a consideration.

Without a tracking device, laser vision correction required patients to hold their eyes as still as possible during the procedure. The 3D ActiveTrak™ follows any tiny motions of your eye instantaneously and automatically, in all three dimensions, repositioning the laser to ensure accuracy. You can relax, knowing that you're obtaining a correction that's precisely centered on your eye.

All of this translates to more peace of mind for you as you can rest assured that any movement of your eye during the procedure will not jeopardize either the accuracy of your treatment or your safety.
